ETOILES DU CIRQUE

... how great it is that we're getting some first and timid glimpses at the fact that winter will actually end one day and we'll spend more time outdoors. Recently I discovered this public artwork by Basim Magdy, entitled "One Day We'll Shine Like the Stars" in Vienna. And even though I'm not too fond of the idea that the institution taking care of Vienna's public art scene dedicated a parcel of land to showcasing artworks, thereby turning it into a PUBLIC ART SPACE (and sometimes bluntly exhibiting works created for galleries or museums), here we go, you never know whose mind may take a liking to art because he or she incidentally bumped into an artwork. Not too sure about Magdy's installation of a circus carriage complete with spacemen and straw, either, but then again ...


... l'œuvre d'art qui est actuellement exposée dans le PUBLIC ART SPACE viennois (sis Karlsplatz, à côté de ce qui était autrefois la Kunsthalle de Vienne) est intitulée ONE DAY WE'LL SHINE LIKE THE STARS et signée Basim Magdy. Je ne suis pas totalement convaincu par l'idée de consacrer un morceau de terre au but d'y exposer du PUBLIC ART (le procédé me paraît de loin trop arbitraire, une manière de faire qui rend impossible toute création d'une œuvre exprès pour ce lieu-là - et en effet, comme fut le cas avec le mur vert de Mona Hatoum, parfois on y transpose tout bêtement des travaux créés pour être exposés dans un musée ou encore, une galerie d'art), mais bon, mieux vaut cela que rien du tout ...


... sembra avvicinarsi il momento in cui possiamo dirci, è tornata la primavera, l'inverno non c'è più (sebbene sia convinto che prima dell'arrivo della stagione più sopportabile, verranno ancora dei giorni di grande freddo...), allora possiamo anche metterci alla ricerca delle opere d'arte pubblico come per esempio ONE DAY WE'LL SHINE LIKE THE STARS, creato da Basim Magdy per lo spazio PUBLIC ART SPACE a Vienna. Cosa vi pare l'idea di dedicare un terreno all'impiantazione di opere d'arte che cambiano regolarmente? Importante, certo, senza dubbio, interessante, ingaggiato - MA, vi dirò io, anche un modo di fare un po' strano, siccome secondo me non riflette per niente il carattere provvisorio e dinamico dell'arte pubblico. Ma vabbe' ...
