CAR SPOTTING Mazda Luce

 ... in Saigon I looked into a courtyard and saw this really nice car, which enables me to bring you back a Vietnamese car spotting - not too bad, eh? It even triggered some childhood memories as it was, I seem to remember, more or less the same car that my father owned when I was little (and how exotic it must have been for him to own a Mazda in Central Europe in the 70s...). Research showed me that this is an example of Mazda's largest sedan model, the Mazda Luce as it was called in Japan, or 929 for all exported models, it seems to have taken different names. It started being produced in 1969 and the second generation Luce is also the first generation 929, which this model may well belong to, meaning that it dates from around 1973 ...

... lorsque je me promenais dans les rues de Saigon (quelle jolie ville, hein ?), j'ai vu, dans une grande cour, enfin c'était plutôt un vaste parking, cette belle voiture bleu foncé que j'ai photographiée d'autant plus prestement qu'elle a déclenché en moi des souvenirs d'enfance. Je pense me souvenir que la voiture de mon papa quand j'étais encore tout petit était une cousine (jaune) de cette Mazda qui a été commercialisée sous le nom de Mazda Luce au Japon et a pris, dès 1974 avec l'apparition de la deuxième génération, le nom de 929 quand destinée à l'exportation ...
