... the Paris-based vintage fashion specialist and auctioner Pénélope Branckaert organised a special sales event entitled "Jean Paul Gaultier - 30 ans de création", which will take place on November 12. Exhibition days to take a closer look at all auction items are November 10 and 12 (until noon). Nota bene: despite the emphasis stressed in the title of this exhibition, vintage fashion from other fashion houses (Mugler, Alaïa, Montana, among others) is also up for sale. Paris-based fashion people should absolutely visit the exhibition next Saturday, I would like to think ...

interesting detail: Gaultier worked with Gibo from 1981 to 1994 before

switching to Aeffe. Some days ago, the fashion house announced that it

would move back to Gibo, starting fw 2013 (see here).

... "Jean Paul Gaultier - 30 ans de création", c'est le titre de la prochaine vente aux enchères organisée par la spécialiste en mode "vintage", Pénélope Branckaert. La vente aura lieu lundi, 12 novembre, mais les lots de la vente seront exposées toute la journée du 10 ainsi que la matinée du 12 novembre (pour plus d'infos, voir ici). A retenir : malgré le titre qu'on a donné à cet événement, il y a aussi pas mal de créations d'autres maisons de mode (par exemple, Alaïa, Mugler, Montana, pour ne citer que quelques uns...) parmi les lots ...

... it was totally by chance that I came across the interesting (let's face it, this IS SOME news) bit of information that Lady Gaga wore a piece by a young Vienna-based designer in the booklet for her BORN THIS WAY album. The key to Lady Gaga's outfits, we all know that, is Nicola Formichetti, and it must have been through him or one of his assitants that DANIELA KARLINGER was approached. This young student at the Hetzendorf bachelor course (which she will finish this autumn) created some quite stunning showstoppers using mirror elements which she combined giving them a truly avantgarde, very deconstructivist look. The mirror-dress was chosen by Formichetti for Gaga, and the mirror-harness appeared in a Take That video as well as, yes ladies and gentlemen, the Thierry Mugler show - and we all know that Formichetti plays a key-role there. So congratulations to Daniela, who I also featured in last Sunday's edition of the newspaper - she told me that she was overjoyed and couldn't believe her luck when she was approached by someone from the Gaga squad, and in her opition such a celebrity-link may well help kickstart her career later this year. We would sure like to hope so, and kudos to Hetzendorf, by the way, which has been producing an impressive number of fresh and exciting talent in the recent past ...

... il y a quelques jours, et totalement par hasard, je suis tombé sur cette information tout de même assez intéressante (surtout, vous me comprendrez, en considérant ce qui se passe d'habitude à Vienne, c'est-à-dire, euhm, presque rien) : la jeune et tout à fait prometteuse créatrice DANIELA KARLINGER a créé une robe-miroir portée par Lady Gaga dans le livret de son dernier disque. Qui dit "garde-robe de Lady Gaga", dit Nicola Formichetti, bien sûr, et le si recherché styliste semble en effet avoir un minuscule faible pour le travail de Daniela, vu qu'il n'a pas seulement travaillé avec la robe-miroir (très avant-garde, et assez déconstructiviste...), il a aussi utilisé une impressionnante carcasse-miroir (même esthétique du côté de Daniela, qui m'a dit, quand je lui ai demandé de répondre à quelques questions pour un article sur le journal, qu'elle essaie de faire converger l'art, la mode, l'architecture et, oui mes amis, la philosophie : quelle ambition, je dis !) dans une vidéo du fameux groupe Take That, et pour le défilé de Mugler. En voilà donc une jeune Autrichienne dont la carrière démarre de manière tout à fait remarquable (d'autant plus remarquable qu'elle ne va terminer ses études à l'institut de Hetzendorf associé à l'Université des Arts de Linz que cet automne) ...

... qualche giorno ho appreso che una giovane e molto promettente stilista viennese che si chiama DANIELA KARLINGER e che, per ora, è ancora studente all'instituto di moda di Hetzendorf associato all'Università delle Arti di Linz, ha creato un modello molto affascinante tipo VESTITO-SPECCHIO che viene indossato dalla famosissima, celeberrima Lady Gaga nel libretto del suo ultimo CD. Chi dice Lady Gaga, dice anche Nicola Formichetti, e pare proprio che questo ormai quasi leggendario stylist italo-giapponese abbia scoperto il lavoro della giovane Daniela. Vediamo dunque l'apparizione di un altro modello suo, una corazza-specchio, in un video del gruppo Take That, su un numero di GQ China, e nella sfilata di Mugler Homme. Meglio quattro volte che una sola, e quando ho parlato con Daniela per un piccolo articolo che abbiamo pubblicato sull'edizione del giornale uscita domenica scorsa, mi ha detto che si sentiva molto felice ed onorata di veder i suoi modelli associati a questi lavoro di stylist, e faceva persino un po' la misteriosa non volendo rivelarmi che cosa hai in testa per lanciara la sua carriera una volta finiti gli studi. Be', suppongo che ce ne renderemo conto e che vedremo dove va l'ambiziosa Daniela con il suo lavoro di, direi quasi, designer di costumi ...

... Austrian jewellery designer Andreas Eberharter/AND_i so assiduously made everyone aware of his new image video via Facebook that I COULDN'T HELP IT and HAD TO CHECK IT OUT, and so I found out that this is definitely a nice piece of fashion film (directed by Markus Gasser and produced by "Die Filmemacher" - as it were, we featured them in the newspaper last week...). The video is called TOTEM (or the collection? or both?), and Eberharter is definitely wise to keep on doing what brought him to the attention of Lady Gaga and the likes in the first place: show pieces such as skull-masks (I had very clear MUGLER déjà vu moments there, MEMENTO MORI and everything...) and eye-patches or spiked helmets and armours (in that case Lisbeth Salander came to my mind). Good job, and the US are definitely a market eager to welcome Mr. Eberharter ...



... puisqu'il a très assidument éveillé l'intérêt de ses fans sur Facebook, Andreas Eberharter, créateur de bijoux tout à fait extraordinaires du label AND_i, a bien mérité une petite mention dans ce blog, car j'ai regardé la vidéo qu'il vient de faire produire (dirigée par Mark Gasser suivant un concept élaboré par Eberharter lui-même - d'ailleurs je trouve intéressant que le créateur ait choisi de collaborer avec ALEX WIEDERIN pour le concept graphique, Wiederin est bien sûr l'un des mieux connus Autrichiens à New York...) et je l'ai beaucoup aimée. Enfin, il continue à faire ce qu'il fait le mieux et ce qui lui a valu l'attention de plusieurs vedettes (genre Lady Gaga ...), à savoir des bijoux à être portés sur scène ou au moins, à des occasions très très spéciales. Sinon, les masques-crânes m'ont fait penser aux défilés de la maison Mugler qu'on vient de voir, et le casque ainsi que l'armure à épines m'ont vaguement rappelé la VERY WONDERFUL Lisbeth Salander ...


... tutti i lettori di VOGUE ITALIA hanno già avuto l'occasione di familiarizzarsi con il lavoro di Andreas Eberharter, designer dietro al marchio AND_i che esiste da qualche anno e ha conosciuto un successo fulgurante nelle ultime stagioni, grazie alla diligenza e all'intelligenza dello stilista che ha trovato una via d'accesso a una WORLD STAR come la ormai un po' over-exposed Lady Gaga con i suoi gioielli da esser portati sul palcoscenico. Continua a fare ciò che sa fare meglio di tutto, e per mettere in scena la sua ultima collezione TOTEM ha scelto di realizzare un video tipo FASHION FILM (che si trova sul suo sito ed è stato diretto da Mark Gasser), con qualche momento che mi ricorda l'estetica della protagonista della trilogia di gialli svedese scritta da Stieg Larsson, LISBETH SALANDER, e un po' le sfilate della maison Mugler che abbiamo appena visto a Parigi. Bello lo stesso ...

... and we are but little surprised that one brand that is very prominently featured is the THIERRY MUGLER line, of which Mr. Formichetti is officially responsible as creative director ... et nous ne sommes que peu surpris par le fait que la marque la plus prominente dans la liste est la maison THIERRY MUGLER, dont Mr Formichetti est depuis peu le directeur créatif ... e non ci sorprende troppo il fatto che la griffe che più volte lì si menziona e THIERRY MUGLER, marchio del quale si occupa Nicola Formichetti come direttore creativo ...
